Discovered by Alexander Eig, the founder of the Department of Botany, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, who named it (1938) Stigmatella after its special stigma. In 1979 Sojak changed the name into Eigia. We are deeply grateful to Hanjal for his help in photographing the plant.
